ENTRANCE/ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
All applicants must meet the following admissions requirements:

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
-
Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D).
-
Submit a clear a Background check and health records.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
This program is designed to instruct and develop the skills of the medical professional in the science of venipunctures. The curriculum is designed to meet the standards of the MedCa, a national certifying agency of
Phlebotomy Technicians. The student will receive instruction in identifying equipment and supplies used to obtain
a routine venous specimen, urinalysis, blood smears and capillary punctures. The student will also receive hands-
on experience in veni-puncture. Upon successful completion of this program, the participant will be able to
describe the 28 steps used for proper veni-puncture and list the anti-coagulants used, order of tube draw, and
color-coding recognized with each type of specimen collection. The participant will also receive a Blood borne
pathogen certificate after successfully completing a 4-hour program. The students will also become knowledgeable
in OSHA standards as applicable to the laboratory and healthcare setting.
